Communities
Welcome to St Andrews Baby and Child (ABC) Lab Communities! This area of the website aims to be a hub of information that enables expecting parents and parents of babies and children to find out about events, activities and groups in the St Andrews and East Fife area. This includes nurseries, businesses, university-led communities, playgroups and local community activities, as well as our own initiative, called Baby Bee.
Alongside this part of the website we also have the ABC Lab Communities Facebook Group where you can post anything relevant to the communities, for example local baby classes, baby events, or anything you would like to advertise to parents and expectant parents.
Unfortunately, our Baby Bee group is not currently running.
Please keep an eye on this page for future activities, or sign up to our Baby Bee mailing list here, if you would like us to contact you for future group notifications.
The word ‘Bee’ in Baby Bee commonly refers to group activities where people come together to work or enjoy a shared goal. This can involve crafting, storytelling, gardening, learning, or simply spending time together. ‘Baby Bee’ embraces this communal spirit to create a feeling of togetherness among parents and infants for shared experiences and bonding opportunities. We hope be running again soon, to invite you to join us.
More information about the background of the group can be found here: Meeting the challenges of public engagement, research impact, and research participation as a baby and child lab – University of St Andrews Research Portal
If you would like to learn about upcoming events and connect with other local parents, join our ‘ABC lab Communities facebook’ group here.
If you would like to enrol your child in our child research database, you can do so here. We will be in touch when a study begins for your child’s age range.
The three local nurseries below are part of ABC Communities, and regularly support ongoing developmental research by taking part in our research for preschool children. These nurseries have also participate in the various science outreach activities that we’ve conducted, including Neuroscience for Kids!
